A found footage film which was worth finding.
Fearter rating: 8/10
Review (no spoilers)
This movie doesn't get off to a great start. In fact it's pretty bad. But I persevered and was happy to discover that it improves immeasurably as the scariness increases.
I'll admit that I'm not the biggest found footage movie fan, but parts of this film made me jump. Other parts were tense, spooky and just plain scary.
I ended up really liking it! I am surprised at myself for writing that, but it's true.
Where this movie let's itself down is the "let's get to know the characters" rubbish at the beginning (why are they always so annoying?) and the weird "interviews" the documentary crew do. Plus the plot isn't great, but it does make sense - just.
Overall this is worth watching, particularly if you're heading to a haunted house. It's scary, fun and doesn't get ridiculous like many other horrors.
Caveat: 8/10 might be a bit high, could be a 7.5 but I'm in a good mood so I'm being nice.
