The Amityville Horror is a good, on the border of very good, horror film.
It's well made, has some good scares and has a plot which makes sense. The acting is good and you get to play the "Oh what was he/she in again?" game. Also, for those who like to watch a muscular man chop wood with an axe - you won't be disappointed.
My only problem with the film is the name of the protagonist. It sounds too much like"Catch-em" which confused me, or (for the avid Simpsons fan) "Catsup" which made me chuckle.
On the whole definitely worth a watch - and if all films in the 00's had been this good my rose tinted heydays would have been a bit better than they were.
